How do i stop a geared motorbike when travelling at speed? |
Just wondering, if i were travelling in 5th gear on a HONDA CBR125cc and the traffic lights ahead turned red, what would i do to bring the bike successfully to a stand still..... deatiled info please :) You go and get proper instruction from a qualified instuctor, take your CBT and take a driving test to gain a licence. You should not be riding a bike without knowing what you are doing. Pull in the clutch and apply the brakes. Although if you've got time to stop you should also have time to change down first. If you haven't got it into first gear before you stop, click it back down while you're stopped, because trying to move off whilst still in a high gear is potentially embarrassing. Many years biking. hubby says apply brakes carefully, but firmly and go down through your gearbox using engine braking aswell xx Pull in the clutch Step on the rear brake Pull on the front brake When you are slowed down press down on the shifter pedal 4 times. (do not use your engine to slow down this wears out your gars and clutch, remember you have 2 brakes meant to slow you down while the clutch is only 1 and meant for acceleration) also anything that wears extra on the clutch means replacing it sooner - and it is MUCH harder to replace than brakes haha Oklatom - I thought of saying "they are called brakes" but I figured the person was a beginner and wanted to know the full proper order - but it is funny Motorcycles, like cars, come equipped with a handy invention called "brakes" which will slow and stop the machine. In fact you may find a control for the front and rear wheel. Feel free to 1. throttle back, 2. down shift, and 3. apply brake until you are stopped. cant believe how many people say pull the clutch in first then brake .you brake first then as you slow down and before you stall you pull the clutch in . |
