Suzuki GSXR 750 '01 model- clocks not working properly- Help!? |
I have a GSXR 750 2001 model and the clocks ( rev counter, speedometer etc) are not working properly. they completey stop working even thoiugh the bike is running, then come on agin for a short while, then off again. But neutral light, highbeam light and dash lights all come on. I have inspected the wiring but can' t find any dry joints. I have looked in the manual but it is confusing. Can any one tell me which wires to check, or what else may be wrong? The dashboard is a combination of digital data and analog data. All of the high beam, neutral light, oil, etc... are powered off of simple voltage leads. However, the speedometer and tachometer are digitally produced. The leads for these two come from the main computer harness if I remember correctly. I am positive about the tachometer lead, as I have done some hacking to setup a mychron system. If you have a multimeter, you should easily be able to check if the ECU is sending the appropriate signals. The factory manual has the wiring diagram which will give you the proper lead. If not, look on the internet for the mychron3 (aim sports) installation guide which includes diagrams for gixxer ecu's. It sounds like there is something broken internal to the dashboard, if it intermittently turns off and on. There are power and ground leads which go to the unit, so those may be something to check. Without any more detail about how it is failing, I cannot offer any more diagnosis tips. Source(s): Factory Manual, Experience. |
