Why Do Harley Davidson...? |
Guys berate the Japanese bike makers? Don't they realize that without the insight of their Japanese counterparts their couches (with exception to the V-Rod family) ... er bikes would be puking oil and they'd still have to adjust the carbs every second set of lights?... Harley's (AMF's) don't puke oil, they leak to mark their territory. That's why you have to rebuild them the right way. Both Japan & American bike companys 'borrow' ideas from eachother. I just berate their bikes every chance I get. I'd like to see those Harleys going 120 through the city, or why don't these Harley guys helmets and jackets match their bikes paint? I mean, c'mon! How lame. I'm just glad I'm won't be riding after I'm 30, so I won't be an old guy on a bike! Actually I see a lot more Harley bashing on this site than the other way around. With a lot of stereotyping and ignorance. So it could just be a reaction to that. Personally, I don't give a sh!t what the person rides. If they love their bike and respect other riders, I don't care what they ride. If their cool, I'm just happy their riding with me no matter what they have. Most Harley guys I know realize that the Japanese influx helped improve Harleys. Competition usually does that. What you fail to recognize is that any negative comments from Harley owners toward Jap bikes are **In Response** to provocation from dickheads like you. I've yet to have seen a Harley owner/rider initiate a " Hey what about those Jap bikers" question. When you guys insult and provoke you will likely get responses you don't like. The solution is a simple one . Shut the F up and go ride your weed whacker, just be sure to do around the sprinkler heads and don't scratch the fence. Hi there newbie. Stick around this forum and you'll see that almost all of the bashing here is on Harleys. The Japanese companies must have used all their oil seals and gaskets on cycles back in the day, 'cuz every time you opened the hood on one of their cars, there'd be a big oil stripe on the underside. Must have been a Japanese racing stripe. Ever see the sign on the jeeps that say, "it's a jeep thing...you wouldn't understand." It's the same thing...you wouldn't understand, since your only a wannabe. Look at ALL of the jap bikes. From a distance, they ALL look like Harleys, with the possible exception of the Honda Gold Wing. Used to be you could tell the difference in a second, now you have to get up close and personal, cause the Honda or Yamaha stickers are under the seat or on the bottom of the gas tank, so that people like yourself can say you ride a chopper or a Harley, and a novice wouldn't be able to tell the difference. If jap bikes are so wonderful, why do the manufacturers copy the Harley? Doesn't make much sense...you'd think that if they were any better, they would have their own style. And as far as prices go, there is very little difference any longer, when you take bikes of equal cc's and extras. I just checked the Honda website, and a Honda Goldwing can go for $27,000. Only the custom Harleys cost that much. |
