Cop getaways... are they worth it? |
When i first got my motorcycle i would ride it without a license, license plates or insurance. One time, as I had just entered the freeway(LA, California) i sped past a car and exceeded 90mph. A highway patrol lit-up his lights and quickly accelerated toward me from behind. The first thought i got was "no license +no insurance = me losing my new bike and getting a big fine" getting away came across my mind... there was a chance of me getting away since there's always traffic about 1 mile from where i was at. Instead, i pulled over. i was angry at myself 'cause of the mess i got myself into and i did not even attempt to escape. However, luckly for me, I got a nice cop and he let me get away without any tickets. So... many cops out there are nice sympathetic guys and they might let us get away with one if the circumstances are reasonable. So is it worth it to try and speed-away from the cops? remember: we are the ones endangering everyone else. You can look at this situation anyway you want.but, the best overall advice that can be given is....you did the right thing by pulling over, If you would have ran you could have killed yourself or another rider or a family of four in car. Remember, if a motorcycle weighs 500lbs. and the rider weighs 180lbs. and your speeding at 100mph and you hit a car that weighs 3000lbs. that equals massive carnage....Is it worth your life or someone elese's life, do you really think you can live with that. And here is something to think about.....what if there was some guy in a car and he decides to run from the cops because he thinks he has a fast car and no license or insurance and he thinks he knows how to drive at high speeds and runs over a pack a guys on crotch rockets that are out just cruising around and not breaking the law.....that makes you kind of think about it. They are worth it for you because you will hopefully be locked up soon. If you get pulled over for breaking the law, face the music. That's what being an adult with driving privileges is about. I get away from cops all the time,and the only one in danger is me,after all Im exposed on a bike.and if they werent allowed to high speed pursue innocent bistanders would not have to worry.my bike is legal and so am I I just love to ditch those fools. with all the special toys they got?? I don't know dude!! if u were to get away u would be putting inoccent people at risk its only worth it when you are with a bunch of other riders. |
