Yamaha ybr how long does it run for? |
ok since buying my yammy in 2005 i ve racked up 19000 miles in just 18 months for one is this normal amount of milage with 2 thirds of that done in rain/ snow and ice what with no problems apart from usauls battery lights tires oil etc it is regulaly serviced to mamfacters recommendations and is normally run down to eastbourbne from essex at least 3 times a month what i want to now is what is the average amount of miles this 125cc bike will do before it gives up the goust no stupid answers!!!!!!!!!!! I had a Honda CG125 that i owned from new which racked up 112,000 miles before it finally seized up. I also now have a YBR125 Which currently has 45,000 miles on it.It is not wearing as well as the Honda but still going strong, as long as you service them you should get 75-100.000 miles out of them. I'm not a biker myself, but as long as you service it on a regular basis, and don't thrash the engine I don't see why it can't go on for 100,000+ miles. they aren't a high performance machine therefore are built to to last. with long journeys less wear on engine. just make sure you change oil and keep filters clean, should go to 30k possible 40k without engine needing attention. The best way for peace of mind is to get a compression test done, this will give an indication as to to the wear on the bore. otherwise just keep your ears open for any extra engine noise. when bike is warm and on a longish road it should not smoke. 2 strokes do smoke when going through town traffic. I agree with Reevo, Small cc bikes are not made for the long haul. If you want a bike to last, change oil regularly and tune. Always do a saftey check before riding, Fluids, and so forth. Air filter is very important for smaller engines, make sure to use good quality air filters. i don't know about your yam but if you read the UMG it always has at least one tale about a chap who has just finished a world tour on his Honda 90 or benly that hes had for 25 years "& i only had to change the plug twice" type of thing |
