Joined the gym I now need advice?

I do 50 mins on the x trainer, 10 mins bike, 10mins rowing machine, 10 min run

plus some light weights,

I wanna loose weight and tone but am worried about the fat turning to muscle, I need to loose about a stone (14lbs) before that.

what is the best plan to use HELP !?!?!?!?!?

weights are the most beneficial thing you can do to lose weight. the more lean muscle mass you have the more calories you burn even at rest! this is a good thing!!!!!!!! with cardio you only burn calories while you're doing the exercise. i don't understand why you don't want your fat to turn into muscle. MUSCLE IS GOOD! you're not going to get bulky muscle if that's what you're so afraid of...women just DO NOT have enough testosterone in their bodies to make muscles like that. you will simply become lean and toned by lifting weights. even if you lift heavy weights. in fact you should make sure you are constantly challenging your muscles and keep increasing the weight load other wise you won't see the lean and toned results you want at all. as a recap: MUSCLE BURNS FAT EVEN AFTER YOUR WORKOUT AND EVEN WHEN YOU ARE AT REST. remember that...and up the weight training routine.
The key to burning fat without creating geat bundles of muscle fibre, is to do low resistance, high volume aerobic activity which is exactly what you are doing. Keep the weights low and the reps high and you will do just fine.

Good luck
It seems like you are doing all the proper workouts - maybe look at your food intake. A lot of the time, people do not eat the proper foods and amounts and therefore have trouble losing weight. Have you tried doing interval training while you are on those machines? It brings your heart-rate up and down and is great for increasing your metabolism. If you are worried about fat turning to muscle -- THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT!! Muscle is tight and takes up less room than fat therefore you will look toned.
I do the light weights for upper body toning but my weight has reduced by using the treadmill...walking at 4.5 mph on the steepest gradient and holding on to the top of the machine.
Best wishes, Mike.
It depends how big you are in the first place, if you are in any way overweight then the fat will turn to muscle but you will also lose some weight.
If you are not overweight then you will turn some of your body fat to muscle and therefore put weight on, but you will be SLIMMER, it all depends which is more important to you - being toned and a bit heavier with a smaller waistline, or being lighter with bingo wings and a bigger waist.
Eat well , don't do heavier weights than you should and keep up the good work with the CV and don't worry about being a bit heavier
lecture over!
Firstly you should try and speak to someone at the gym. Like personal trainers. They really help and will give you the best advice.
Secondly you spend alot of time working out, which is really good. Keep this up, and do it at least 3 times a week. If you focus alot on the weights, then your bound to get more muscle.
Also eat less & more healthly and you will loose weight more quickly.
Good luck x
It's really amazing how much misinformation there is about weight loss and weight lifting.

The very best things you can do to lose fat is to adopt a proper diet AND lift weights. You will go farther in trying to get your dream body by doing weights then by doing endless cardio.

Fat does NOT turn into muscle. That is like saying you can turn butter into gold. Fat tissue and muscle tissue are two entirely different things and you can NOT turn one into the other. Go ask your doctor.

The only way you can tone quickly is to lift weights. You will not get big muscles. That is a myth. The people that get big muscles eat massive amounts of calories and in some cases take steroids.

There are countless men that would absolutely kill to gain a measly 10 pounds of muscle per year so don't think that because you go and lift some weights while being on a diet you will wake up one day and all of a sudden be Vin Diesel.

Go on a great diet, lift weights, and do cardio for 30 mins three times a week.

Good luck,
