How much excercise is too much for a 5 month old puppy?

I have an American Eskimo that I take to the bike trails. I rollerblade w/her so she can run as fast as SHE wants, I'm careful to let her decide how long she's going to run. So far, I've taken her 3 days in a row. Monday and Tuesday she ran 2 miles at a full run w/ no problems. We stopped at 1 mile and I gave her a break and some water before we went back. Yesterday she only ran at a light pace and only about 3/4 of a mile. I let her walk to the mile mark and a little way back, she kept lying down so I picked her up and carried her the rest of the way.
When we got home, she was jumpy and playful and full of energy just like the other two days. She played with the neighbor's dog and seemed fine.
Am I excercising her too much? The last thing I want to do is hurt her, but she soooo enjoys running...

I would suggest calling your vet..... But I would say 2 miles at a full run is a little to much.....But say a mile every day at a light run with full running a couple days a week would be ok....next time she refuses to keep going do not carry her... the rest is good but really you need to build up to the long runs..... You could not run 2 miles at a full run your first time out so dont expect it of her..... I would say and hour a day a the faster paces is ok but split it into two seprate sessions a half hour long each...but call your vet and make sure...
I think it sounds like you're already doing the right thing. Dogs will let you know if they're tired. Just make sure to keep an eye on her and offer her lots of water.
All the exercise can make her blood sugar level drop really fast. When you give her water, mix in a teaspoon of Karo syrup or honey with each quart of water to help her blood sugar level stay up.
I work for a vet.
I agree with newsbug.
Sounds like you're doing an excellent job.
I don't think that you are exercising your 5 month old dog too much. She is still a puppy. Puppies sleep all the time. If your puppy was tired then she would just lay down and go to sleep. Also, she is a big dog and does need lots of exercise. Especially if you come home and she is still full of energy. She must be a highly energetic dog. She may even need more exercise if she is jumpy and playful. But, no you are not exercising her too much, or else she would just lay down and take a nap.
