Im eating, at the most, 900 calories a day? Good or bad for weight loss?

I'm trying to shed about 20-30 pounds as soon as possible! I'm in the military and got an injury during training. The time I spend on light/limited duty set back my Physical Training and I GAINED LBS! Now I'm paying for it. I've been in the gym 6days a week for the last month or so, lost a little less than 10lbs. My workouts kick off with LOTS of cardio, about 60+ minutes(ellipticals, treadmill, bike, stepmill - all which I vary in speed and resistance during those stations). I dont about 30 mins of resistance training on some of the machines. Does this sound like a surefire plain to continue to lose LBS.? I drink plenty of water throughout the day, and eat healthy. Within my diet, im not to concerned about carbs(i feel i need that energy due to only taking in 900cals)? Is this a reasonable mindset to have? Eat fruits, whole grain cereal, whole wheat bread/wraps, Fat Free Skim Milk, Egg-Beaters, Grilled Chicken Breast. Only 900 Cals, I'm 5'7, 21/M , 195lbs, 900cal safe?

You obviously know nothing about nutrition, the safe way the lose weight and human physiology. First of all the human brain alone requires 800 calories alone daily just to function. Your caloric intake should be around 1200 per day. You should aim to lose no more than 10 pounds per month. Eat a balanced diet of fresh vegetables and fruits, 100% whole grains, nuts, legumes, leaner cuts of meat or meat substitutes, poultry, etc. As far as exercise: gaining muscle mass will speed up you metabolism and is heavier than fat that you lose. Watch water intake. Electrolyte replacements is what you need to be paying attention to. Too much water will lead to water intoxication and potential death if not caught in time. Get with a trainer that knows what he's is doing. Remember, your goal is to be trimmer and healthier than when you started this program. Source(s): BSN in Nursing courses; personal experience
You should definitely be eating more than 900 calories, unless you are a wrestler trying to cut weight
NO!! This is BAD. Your body will go into starvation mode and you'll actually GAIN weight - because your body will hold on to every calorie you eat.

Aim to consume a minimum of 1200 calories a day - you need this much to function normally. You're on the right track with the kinds of foods you're eating though. Add some veggies, maybe a little lean red meat.
make it more like 900 for a week or so, then move it up to 1100 then keep it at 1200
Horrible!! with the workouts you are doing ..you are going to trick your metabolism into thinking that you are starving...which in turn will cause your body to store whatever little bit of calories you are consuming...for an active person who is working out intensely..you should be consuming 1500 calories per day ...AT LEAST!!!
that might be too extreme of a cut for your body, you should calculate your required calorie intake

then reduce that number by 1000
