Yeast Infection or Bacterial infection? |
Symptoms from WebMD [x] Vaginal itching that is often severe. [*] Vaginal discharge that is usually white, curdlike, and odorless. [x] Red, irritated skin around the opening to the vagina (labia). [x] Pain while urinating when urine touches irritated skin. *mine is light-yellow, kinda cottage cheese looking symptoms from http://www.msu.edu/user/eisthen/yeast/... [x]feels like an intense itching, burning sensation, localized in your vagina and vulva. this itching is not always present, but can get really bad, so bad you can hardly walk, let alone ride your bike to the pharmacy or doctor to get it treated. [x]looks like clumpy nasty white stuff. most medical descriptions compare the discharge to ricotta cheese but it can range from thick and not clumpy to faintly yellow to thin and clear. [x]smells like bread or beer. in fact, it smells pretty much exactly like yeast, although the yeast used in brewing and baking is an entirely different species (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). no bact In my experience, the difference i have noticed is it seems that a bacterial infection comes with stomach pain. I read on a medical site that if you have stomach pain with a suspected yeast infection to see a doctor as it may be a more serious problem such as a bacterial infection. But that doesn't mean they always have stomach pain *shrugs* Why don't you ask a doctor? i was told that a yeast infection discharge and smell is like cottage cheese if you get that (as you have said) its most likley a yeast infection as that also will make you very itchy your best bet is too see a gyno / doc :) Sounds like yeast. You can buy over the counter products for this. Terconazole works very well. You might also want to get a product that has a topical cream to apply to the outside to help with the itching and burning. Wear cotton undies, avoid scented soaps and cornstarch powders. Sounds exactly like a yeast infection. Go to the drug store and buy some Monistat. Make sure you wash your underwear very well, in hot water. If you have some that don't have a cotton panel in the crotch, that might not do the trick. Put those in the microwave for about 30 seconds (check for metal parts first!) Take care of it right now before it spreads into a nasty UTI. If this doesn't take care of it, then go see your doctor. Sounds like a yeast infection. I would use an over the counter medication like Monistat 7. You should feel some relief within a day or two. If it does not go away after that, then I would consult with your OB/GYN. Bacterial vaginosis usually is just some heavy, clear discharge with mild itching and abdominal cramping. Nurse in OB/GYN office |
