I just bought an Electra Company Townie 21 Bicycle and notice I had a twinge in my knee after a ride....?

I found this link mention the Townie will cause knee damage. Can anyone shed some light on this knee issue? Does the new Townie design stress the knee in a way that will cause unresonable risk of injury?

P.S. - I am just using it for beach riding. Flat, no hills...

Thanks in advance.

John

John, after looking at the photo of the bike, it looks like the seat is too far back (bad geometry). A plumbline dropped from the outside of the knee should hang close to the center of the pedal post when the pedals are in the 3 o'clock and 6 o'clock postion. Yes, this improper position could potetially cause knee stress, as could seat height, fore and aft positioning, and other factors. I'd recommend having a professional bike tech help you find a good bike, a little money spent on this could save doctor bills and pain later.I hope this is helpful, Steve
My husband and I both have Townies and we have never had any problems. It is actually better on out backs and knees than the bikes most people ride. It puts less pressure on knees and you don't have to bend over so it saves your back. We love ours.
