How can I get to work each day in an eco-friendly fashion? |
So I work 11 miles from home, and the last 4 miles of the trip is all uphill. In addition, No buses service the last 4 miles of the trip either. I have to be at work each day by 7:00am. I live in Huntington Beach, a suburban city in Southern California in which there is no light rail or subway to be found. I have been riding a motorcycle to do this, but wonder if there are more effective or environmentally friendly ways? I rode my bicycle once or twice but I felt fatigued the rest of the day. I walked the last 4 miles a few times but it takes wayyy too long. Work at home. Hybrid? Carpool with coworkers? Scooter? Foot Patrol? Carpool; there must be someone in your neighborhood who goes in the same direction. Check around, you never know. Hitchhike or car-pool. No added emissions and commute time should be the same as driving. Disclaimer: I once tried to hitchhike in Orange County and nobody would pick me up. paddle boat You may have to move closer to work or work closer to home to be more eco friendly but drive the speed limit, accelerate &, if possible, brake gradually, avoid a/c on the long uphill, & maintain your vehicle & tires for starters. Good luck!! Well, aside from carpooling the only thing I can think of that you havent tried already is either a moped type scooter or one of those scooters that you stand on that are either gas or battery powered. |
