Perfect bike?

I've been researching bikes alot lately. I'm going to be starting college in August and my truck kills on gas so I need a bike that can commute well, won't kill me on insurance, and is still fun. I think I've settled with the 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R. I'm 6'0" and weigh 210 pounds. Is this bike going to be too small for me? I also plan on alot of highway travel. Is there anyone on here who isn't a salesman that can give me your honest opinion of this bike? Whether you own one or not.

Yahama FZ 6 Dude!

It will if you plan on going freeways.

The style of bike is an expression of your personality.
Take the MSF class!! Your life is worth the fee!!!!!!

Pretty much every person I know who rides a sportbike say it's a killer to their backs & shoulders to go long highway trips on them. There are cruisers & sport touring types that are better for long trips. Also most crotch rockets are killers for the insurance budget. Too many idiots think they are bulletproof stunt pro's and hence cost all sportbike riders money in increased insurance premiums. Also alot of the sportbikes are not very forgiving to a new rider. ie- more crashes!
I ride a 86 VT1100C Shadow. I like the body position, and I have the highway and rear pegs set to where I can have 3 different positions to ride in.
If your research has all been reading and online you need to go sit on all the different makes/models out on the showroom floors to see which bike makes your body say 'I'm home".
That is the one you want, that your body fits comfortably on!

You're pretty much the same size as me and I think that a 250 is too small. I'd go with at least a 600. Me recommendation is the Honda CBR600RR. It's dependable, fast, you can find a good deal on one, looks great, long lasting and cheaper to fix/ maintain. Good luck in your search.

If you are trying to keep insurance down keep away from the sport bike types. If you want to go with a Kawasaki I would suggest the Vulcan 500 LTD. For a guy your size I don't think you are going to be comfortable on a smaller bike like the 250R. I would say take them both for a test ride.

I'm no salesman, but I can tell you this, it will be the Geo Metro of bikes.

You'll be flooring it out of every light,

why the hell are you trying for something new if money is an issue, just get an older 600!

no. the mechanics of it are completely different. remember, you don't have to balance a car to keep it from tipping over! that seems to be the hard part to cycling if you ask me.
