I'm interested in purchasing a S4R Testrastretta Ducati motorcycle?

now my question is i have no idea of a general price plus how much would insurance be? I think i might vary with the insurance you already have, but im not sure. I want to become an avid biker i know that is certainly not he ideal beginners bike but i would like to save up and puchase one. Any advice wit insurance or ducati deals, hints and tips would be greatly appreciated thank you for all who answer :3

The MSRP: was $12,995 in 2007. Insurance depends on many factors, age, driving record, experience, etc...

I'm in my 50's and pay $75/year for a sport bike and a dual sport. But if you are in your teens, or early twenties, insurance might cost $2000+/year.

You should buy a cheap entry level bike to learn to ride and take a motorcycle safety class before you buy a 900cc bike.

Well, if that is what you want, go for it!

Insurance: All I can say here is shop around for it. You're not buying a superbike, but it is fast and pricey. I don't think it is a bike that is eyed by those who steal bikes too often as I think Ducati's are kind of rare. I am a relatively new biker and I bought an 805cc bike that ways in that upper 400, close to 500 lbs. It is a cruiser and not terribly fast, but my insurance is only $250 a year. Some people depending on who they are, where they live, driving record, motorcycle safety class, and insurance company can get it cheaper or more expensive. I've heard of people with superbikes paying less than $200 easy for the whole year.

You'll want to balance your insurance options. If you get a new S4R, you'll probably want it all. Some people only get liability, well, for your own health, you'll want to do more than that.

One hint though, take a safety riding class. Some insurance companies accept their credit to help you get a lower premium. I think you'll want to wait until after you have received the quote to tell them you were in the class.

Good luck!

Dude, don't do it. Ya I know the duc is a sick bike, but: A) Beginner + 118hp = Death. B) $15 grand! Ouch. Since your a beginner your going to drop it at least once, and since its a Duc, you'll get nailed for the repairs. C) Sorry man but your asking for a quick way to the morgue. D) Insurance is about $280 a month. Sorry to rain on your parade but get something smaller and work your way up.
