Pulled muscle or pinched nerve . PLEASE HELP?

I was riding my bike yesterday and i went to do a 360, and for that you have to really throw your body in the directiont that your want to spin and another key thing you have to do is to look over the shoulder of the way your spinning, I did so and like as soon as i shot my head around i just pretty much colasped , I got up and tired to keep riding but now when imove my neck to the left its such a bad pinching sharp pain in my neck it litterly makes me yell in pain. I dont know what to do, I dont have insurance so i want to avoid a doctors vistit at all costs. What do you think I did to my neck, and what can i do to treat this, Ice heat? Keeping my neck straight. PLEASE PLEASE HELP im really dying over here. This happened yesterday, the only reason i was able to relax and sleep last night is b./c i had some drinks. THANKS !!!

Misadjusted, or pinched nerve. Get someone with strong hands to massage it out for you. I learned to massage back in high school, so I'll help you out if you can't find anyone ;)

Ice for the first 2-3 days no more than 20 minutes per hour. After that use heat or ice, which ever work best for you but again no more han 20 minutes per hour. After 4 days try some gentle stretching. If you have numbness or tingling or radiating pain you should see a doctor, insurance or not. It's cheaper in the long run to fix it now.

Start by taking some ibuprofen. Then use a heating pad on the spot it will loosen up the muscles and then go with ice. Alternate heat and ice every 30 mins. or so. It might take a day or so but, it will start felling better. Sounds like a muscle strain.

You can't really do anything you will probably be in pain for at least a week and it should lay off the best thing to do if relax in a hot bath or something should work and take it easy for now

don't move your neck as much as possible. go see a physiotherapist immediately. you neck has to be casted so you can't move it. moving the neck will probably cause more serious trouble. see a PHYSIO ASAP!

you should really see a doctor. i no u dont want to see them but dont take any chances. your neck pain can be really serious.

Hey man. Almost same thing here. Today is Tuesday, but on Saturday I was working out and pulled something in my neck I thought, so I stopped my workout, went home, and laid down for the rest of the day because it hurt pretty bad.

By Monday it was no longer a problem, but today I rode my bike to classes (I'm in college), and before my last class took it down a like 80 degree slope (almost straight down, a little less than 90 degrees). It normally would have been fine; the bike can take it - it's a nice bike - , and I landed it fine and all -- only about 5 minutes later my neck started hurting like hell.

I had the same symptoms as you did, and had to get home after class, so rode home toughing it, and was in sever pain by the time I got home. I would yell out every time I moved my neck by accident.

Anyway, here's what I did: first I got an ice pack. That worked a little, for about 5 minutes, and then only got worse.

I took 3 ibuprofen because ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory, and part of why it hurts is because the muscles are inflamed and swollen. So I don't have a heat pad, so I was like "I can;t take this", so I went and got in the shower.

I turned up the heat so hot I could taste sweat from my face, and could hardly breathe from the steam. It was so hot it hurt, but that isn't close to what my neck felt like, so when it started working, I turned up the heat even hotter (we have a great hot water heater in our house).

It felt so good I am about to get back in for another shower, but the reason I didn't just take it easy today was because I have a 4-page paper due tomorrow (better than a 10-page paper like earlier this semester). So i have to write this thing, but I thought I'd help you out.

Oh, I got a washcloth, got it wet with warm water, wrung it out, then stuck it in the microwave - yes the microwave - for 1 minute. Then I stuck it on my neck. If you have a small microwave, maybe a bit longer; or a really big one, you probably want to let it cool before you touch it. I have a medium sized one, and it was still too hot to touch at first.

Hot feels so good, and with the ibuprofen I will be just fine.

DO NOT DRINK alcohol when you take ibuprofen!!!

Oh, also, don't move your neck, or move it as little as possible. Your body is sending you a pain message for a reason. Try to keep your neck in the spot it doesn't hurt, or hurts the least, and keep it there.

Do not ride your bike for at least a week. Do not do anything that will jolt your body (thus your neck), for at least a week. Try not to drive a car if you can (or if you have a car).

Get plenty of rest, and keep well-nourished. Lie down a lot.

No roller coasters or skydiving. No car accidents.

HOPE THIS HELPS DUDE; trust me, I know what it feels like.

PS
It's likely a muscle strain or a pulled muscle.
Hopefully you did not tear a tendon or tear a muscle, but you probably didn't considering the circumstances.

I am a college student, and I can't afford a physiotherapist, or any other specialty doctor either. Good luck, hope it gets better!
