Did I say the right thing to my friend? |
My Special Olympic friend, who grew attatched to me had a buddy of his stay over niight at his house the other night and when I picked him up to go to track practice he had a buddy along with him, and his buddy is a passenger I take in the taxi, so I know him. AFter I picked up the group home we went to our site. WHen practice was over, I dropped off his buddy at his g/f's home, and my friend and I spent all day Saturday together, around 4PM his buddy came back to fix his bike, and before he left after the bike was fixed, I told my friend and his buddy that he really shouldn't be at the Special Olympics Track practice because of insurance reasons, and explained to them that you need to be a registered volunteer (like me) or athlete (like my friend) and told him if someting happens, such as a broken leg, I would feel bad and so would everyone else. I actually said that as an excuse, because I don't know his buddy's parents that well except met them once in the taxi (more info below) to take them home from somewhere, and I actually do not feel comfortable taking his buddy around just in case I get into an accident and he for an example gets a sprained ankle and his parents would sue me which I am afraid of. I only have permission to take my friend to and from track practice and other places, but I do not have any permission to take his buddy around. Therefore, did I say the right thing, OR should I also tell them the truth as well as the insurance excuse? Yea, you were truthful. I don't see anything wrong with what you said to him, you have every right to be worried about these things. Don't worry. I don't think u were right becasue it was not your place to tell him where he can and cannot be. Don't be jealous be happy that they are friends. |
