If I cancel my car insurance will my rate go up later? |
I'm going to sell my car and use public trans and my bike to get around. I'm wondering if/when I get a car again will I have high rates because it will look like I had a laps insurance. I'm in the USA It is possible you could pay higher rates once you get a car again, some companies like Progressive give a prior insurance discount, to qualify you would need to have 6 months of continuous coverage. But, some companies don't. When you are ready to get a car again, shop around, call a local independent agent, they are more likely to have a company that doesn't give this discount & therefore give you a better rate. They would just need a valid reason why you didn't have insurance, which you do, you didn't have a car & you are in an area with good public transportation & do not need to have one. no because you will still keep you no claims if you have any but i think you might have to pay a cancelation fee as you entered into a Yearly contract my brother just done this and had to pay 拢70 to cancel. Location? its possible. you will not get a prior insurance discount. it mostly depends on the rates at the time though. rates go up and down all the time. so in reality, its possible it might even be less. call an independent agent when you are ready to pick up a policy again. they write for a lot of companies and get you a good company with the best rates. based upon your condition,I think you should find something useful here.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/ca... Most of the time you get a bit of a discount for having prior coverage. They also ask you how long have you been without insurance on your car. But since you're not going to have a car I dont believe your insurance rate should go up. |
