Beginner's Motorcycle: 250R? FZ6? Other? |
Hi, I'm 18 years old. I have been driving for 2.5 years, but never ridden a motorcycle. My university has a motorcycle licensing course which I will take end of January. I am wondering what motorcycle to buy over the summer as my first bike. I was really amazed that the 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R is only $3,500!!! Is 250cc enough? I heard it can pull 109 with a 240lbs guy. I am 5'10", 170lbs. I don't want too much power cause I don't wanna crash, but isn't 250cc really little? Money is also a big issue which is why I like the way the 2008 250R is looking. I could pay that in cash even. FZ6 looks perfect, but is more expensive? Worth it? I plan to use this motorcycle for inner city riding, as well as interstate driving occasionally (college to home ~ 150-250 miles). Also, could someone give me an insurance ballpark (never had an accident). Thanks so much!!! hey well there is alot of options out there, from my experience running around the city a 250 would be fantastic for you, putting on longer miles could be a bit more of a challenge, also the new cbr125r is a nimble little bike with very stylish looks (like the 600rr and 1000rr) but not good for long distance or highway riding, gs500 sv 650 sv650s i would reccomend before the fz6 because the fz6 surprised me with its power you probably couldn't ride it to its capabilities and could get in over your head, also the honda 599 is a wonderfully confidence inspiring bike to start out, insurance im not sure up here in canada its way more expensive for me because im 20 and male, but certain bikes come in at better brackets the sv650s is sporty but classes as a naked or street bike instead of sport same with the suzuki katana, hope i helped out, there is so many options and things to consider email me if you want any more info Hi. You talk toooooo muuucccchhhh....:-* the 250 would be alright around town but you would get blown off the road on the innerstate the first time a semi blew by you its to light you should look at a katana 600 Consider the Kawasaki EX500 |
