Riding season? Insurence?

I just bought an 03 gixxr 1000 and I'm dying to ride it and it's killing me to see it sit in the garage, but I live in colorado and the winter is quickly aproaching. The bike is not yet insured/registered, but I could take care of it in one day if need be.

My question is, would you insure your bike and register it now, or wait til riding season to spend the money on that?

because I live in colorado it's impossible to predict how many 60+ days I have left, any other colorado riders, help me out?

insurance=$700+/yr.
registration=卤$150

Since your insurance and registration last a year, does it really matter much in what part of the year you take care of the paperwork?

One good day's riding is not worth passing by.

I can't believe how much insurance is there!!! I was going to say insure it now, you never know what could happen while it's put away for the winter. Wow, my insurance was only $222 for the year. Of course, my bike is older too.

Wow, that insurance is expensive. I guess big sports bikes get alot of claims on the insurance. Since both insurance and registration are annual commitments I would pay it now and start enjoying the bike.

Ride safe and enjoy.

I would insure it now. What if it gets stolen or your garage catches on fire? Shop around for insurance. Ask another rider. You can save big bucks.

I would go a head and get the bike legal. Being a rider myself, and living in Indiana, I too am limited on nice days to ride. With the weather being so unpredictable, you never know when it will be warm enough to ride. Back in 2000, my friend and I rode our motorcycles from Richmond, IN to Versailles, Ky the day after Thanksgiving to visit my mother. We had snow in the grass, but the roads were clear. Temp was 40+. So, go on and spend the money now, you won't regret it.
