Bicycle insurance? |
i bought a new bike yesterday from JJB and i just called in JJB today to find out if they do bike insurance and the lady told me that they dont! where can i get bike insurance from? Nealo D is wrong actually about not being able to get bicycle insurance.... There was a time back in the day when you couldn't get bicycle insurance for love nor money - in fact when I got my first bike earlier this year I thought of insuring it, then remembered how my friend - many moons ago - couldn't get insurance for her son's bike....I checked it all out on line & was pleasantly surprised to see that you CAN get it nowadays.... Here's a few links that may be of help.....check a few of them out & you should be able to get free quotes before you make any final decision.... http://www.insurancewide.com/quotation_b... http://www.evanscycles.com/insurecm.jsp?... http://www.cycleguard.co.uk/ http://www.endsleigh.co.uk/bicycle-insur... http://www.bicycleinsurance.co.uk/... Also if you have your bike registered with https://www.immobilise.com/ & get yourself a damn good lock for your bike, it'll help to keep your insurance down even more. Source(s): Check out a question of mine about bike security for some help on getting decent locks etc..... http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind... try e car on line they insure all types of things Try Halfords, i dont know for sure if they insure bikes that they havent sold but its worth a try. When i bought my sons bike from there the insurance was free for the first year. What have you got to loose inquire and ask. I believe that your homeowner's or renter's insurance may cover any theft or damage. If you have renters or homeowners policy it would be covered under that. If you have an expensive bike get an additional endorsement to cover the whole cost. Most insurers simply won't insure bicicles any more, except as part of household contents (that means only when it's at home). This is because cycle theft in the UK is so rife- literally thousands stolen every day. The best thing to do is to buy a lock which comes with a 'no theft' guarantee- Kryptonite do them amongst others. That way you are doubly protected. You have a good quality lock, and in the event that somebody does manage to beat the lock and steal your bike, the lock company will re-imburse you for the value of your bike. |
