Questions about buying a moped... jmstar madness 50qt?

Hi all,

I'm considering buying a 50cc Moped in paticular a 'JMSTAR MADNESS 50QT' and have a few questions...

1) The advert for it states that it is not registered and I would need to do this myself - what is involved in doing this?

2) Do you need anyother safety clothing apart from a helmet for using a moped ?

3) how long does a full tank of petrol last with a moped ?

I am in two minds about this as really I coud use a bicycle and save on petrol, insurance, road tax etc however would a moped be better because I woudnt need to pedal ?

any good advice is welcome and thank you in advance :)

One thing to note -

If you are buying from a motorcycle dealer, all well and good.
If you are buying from an 'on-line only' store or warehouse importer, BEWARE! They will offer no after sales service or backup if anything goes wrong and will probably stop selling those bikes as soon as their present stock runs out.
I am not sure of the moped it self, but I can answer some of the questions. You do not need any other safety clothing when riding a 50cc moped, just a helmet. A 50cc moped usually has a 1 to 1.5 gallon petrol tank, and it would get around 100 - 200 miles on that one tank.
ok i got one of these, and there not bad, get ya from a to b, mind you, i have had a few problems, the battery is the cheapest you can buy, but i got a new one off ebay for 拢20 and now starts first time every time! first there is the registering, you need to be insured first, this is done via rampdale (for my first bike with no no-claims was 拢180)
then ya goto dvla, and they will register it, cost about 拢38 plus road tax at 拢15 a year. then you can just goto halfords or some other place that fix mopeds to get your plates printed, cost another 拢20
you see where i'm going with this!
anyway, as far as the safty clothing you only need a helmet, however i use a hi viz vest, car drivers can be pricks when they wanna be. and gloves are a must as the wind on your hands can be a killer.
the tank is not bad, cost about 拢4 to fill and i've done about 120km on one tank, so in the long run, it is cheap to run, gets ya where ya need to go.
registering a bike is simple if you know how, and are a business, try www.thescooterandbikeshop.co.u... they only supply registered bikes assembled ready to ride away, most unregistered come in a crate and without the correct tools and knowledge are not easy to assemble.

leagaly you only need a helmet but I would suggest that good gloves would be a good idea if you came off your hand would be a mess without them

a tank of fuel should last 100 miles, and is about 拢4-拢5

for any other advice call them at the scooter and bike shop they will be glad to help
