Do I need to pay for the motorcycle? |
I was recently in a motorcycle accident while doing a test drive. Since I don't own a motorcycle, I don't have any motorcycle insurance. I only have car insurance. Does anyone know if I am required to purchase the motorcycle? While the accident is my fault, it will be quite a big deal for me to pay for a bike that is a wreck. Do dealerships have to have insurance to cover these things? Or is my only option to suck it up and pay for the bike? Did you sign a test drive agreement prior to taking the bike out? If so, you may be liable for the damage. Your car insurance should cover you on a vehicle that you are driving temporarily, unless that is specifically excluded in your policy. It may be worth paying a lawyer to review your case and policy! Source(s): 26 years in the auto business yes they have insurance and they gave you permission to take the bike for a spin so its on them. get a lawyer. Contact your car insurance to see if they will cover it. I assume you don't have a license with a class "M" endorsement either? If not that may place you even more at fault. If you insurance does pay, you will still have to pay any deductible. File a claim with your car insur. most cover you for any thing you drive for 24hr to cover your purchuse or test drive It being your fault there is a good chance you will be droped if you were paying for lessons its the responsibility of that person to have bike insured not yours tell them no you will not pay and if they insist mention the police...good luck |
