Does anyone know what the rear bumper of a Chevy Equinox is made of? Is it plastic or metal or both? |
My son rear ended this car and barely left a scratch on it. We were told by the driver that he used to do body work and the whole bumper would need to be replaced. Like I said it wasnt dented only scratched. He claims under the plastic bumper cover is a material like the inside of a bike helmet and once its damaged it has to be totally replaced. I understand the insurance will check it out. I am just worrying about it in the meantime. Composite FRP series bumper products are mainly manufactured using synthetic resin and Urethane reinforced with glass fiber. So yes it is kind of like a helmet tell him to take to three body shops. and get a with your insurance company. will take care of him. don't let it worry you. he's wants you to pay more. The bumper cover is plastic. Underneath should be metal with a foam padding to help reduce impact. I don't know how you could tell that it had been in a wreck since those things are sooo ugly. It looks like they have been rolled over brand new. Depends on how hard he hit him.But to me it sounds like not hard what so ever . i think that guy was just wanting to scare you guys thats all just get touch up paint and ask insurance company what can they do about it . |
