Engine and Frame Number Are Different?

I have just managed to by the 50cc version of a bike that I used to have, I had the 125cc version and want to put the same engine in. I know the engine will fit thats not a problem nor is getting it fitted, its just that when the new engine is in there it will have a different frame number to the frame. Is there anything this will effect i.e. insurance DVLA etc and also how can I fix this?

I build custom bikes as a hobby and often use aftermarket engines.
This requires a trip to DMV ,take a bill of sale and the title to the bike. DMV will give you a form to take to your local Police or Highway Patrol inspection center. They will run the motor # and if it's not stolen ,DMV will issue a new title that reflects the new motor #.
With Harleys,if the cops see a motor # and Vin # does'nt match the title one might well end up getting their bike impounded, I'd imagine the same could happen to you.
so long as you inform your insurance company of all changes it should still be ok, but check dvla website to make sure of anything like this that you are unsure of
In California you would register it as restored junk (parts from everywhere) and contact the DMV about registering it. You will have to insure it with the larger engine size.
Just fill in the blue section of the V5 with the new details and send it to the DVLA for them to approve it and send you a new V5 with the new details.
As long as you inform the DVLA of the new engine number there won't be a problem. Most cars and bike's chassis and engine numbers don't match each other anyway. It's matching the V5 that counts.
