Good reasons to sell my car?? |
I rear-ended somebody today (never leave the house until you are fully awake!)... And I just know that my insurance is going to go through the roof, especially since I'm 17 and have been driving for a year. I only make about 1500 dollars a month, and I live in san diego, ca and rent is really high... so i end up paying almost a thousand a month on bills. I've been trying to talk myself into parting with my 1981 volvo (which i'll probably only get 1200 for) to save money (and probably get more exercise on my bike, too). I am near a lot of bus stations. I'm just worried about getting rid of it... I really need to and can't afford it anymore... but i love driving and couldn't stand to not have it. I really can't talk myself out of it!! but I know for a fact that its only a matter of time before it breaks down on the side of the road. What are some good reasons for me to get rid of it and stop driving???? Sell the car and try doing without one for the summer. A 1981 volvo can probably break a 17 yr old's budget if it were to break down. It would be wise to keep the money from the car sale and add to it, that way if you were to pick up another car, you could get a nicer one as well. The longer you can do without, the more exercise you'll get, the more money you'll save on insurance, gas, maintenance, etc. And it will be interesting to see who your friends are who are willing to pick you up and drive you around. none just leave it parked when you dont need it. you wont want to ride the bike when its snowing (if you have snow their) and if you ever gotta go somwhere far. i would keep it till it breaks You've already listed several. |
