Stolen!!!! Red/Silver 2002 CBR600 F4i, Jardine exhaust, undertail kit.? |
So, my motorcycle was stolen early this morning from my apartment parking lot, as was my neighbors (both CBR600's). Local PD received 4 motorcycle theft reports this morning. I bought it 6 weeks ago for 4500. I paid 90 for an oil change, full synthetic, had just registered it for 180 dollars, and have Geico insurance with comprehensive coverage with a 500 dollar deductible at 440 for the year. (I have the understanding that the accepted practice is for them to cancel the policy and then charge me for the remainder of the year, anyway). So assuming that my bike has been targetted by professional thieves and will thus be unlikely to be recovered, what will my recoup be? Anyone with an educated guess? They say that total loss payout is based on actual value AND "additional factors" which their sales reps were unable to be any more specific about when I purchased the policy (shopped three companies, and all gave basically the same response). Am I going to get royally screwed? I ride a 2006 Kawasaki ZZR600. Not a lot of call for that bike on the black market. Almost nonexistent theft rate. It sucks that you had your bike stolen, and prepare to learn your lesson about how well Geico deals with fixing your situation (i.e. you get NOTHING). Yes, if any Geico customer has an issue, they tend to cancel the policy and forget you ever existed. Just like when one of their customers sideswiped me in my Jeep; they cancelled her policy the next day and claimed they couldn't contact her, leaving me with nothing except a reserved spot on their f*cking mailing list! Every lesson in life costs something, and unfortunately some cost WAY more than others (and it's not always money). Here's to your lesson being as "cheap" as possible. Once they establish it is really missing and unlikely to be recovered (which can take some time), assuming you have coverage for theft, you will get the market value of the vehicle at the time of loss adjusted for condition. Worn tires, pre-existing damage would lower the amount, new tires, any upgrades would raise it. Then they will subtract any deductible from that amount. So, no, what you will get is compensated for your loss. Maybe you will be lucky and they will find it. AFTER GIEKO , GETS DONE SCREWING YOU , AND YOU FIND A NEW BIKE , CHECK WITH STATE FARM INS. AND PUT A LOW JACK ON IT WITH NO RECIEPTS , THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR ADD ON'S IF YOU ARE LUCKEY YOU MAY GET $3000 |
