New engine or new car?

i have a 79 el-comino

the engines been rebuilt already once before so i dont think thats a option again... its got a total of 175500 miles on it

im in collage but i do need either a bed or a small suv to put scuba gear/bikes/ect in

from the dealer i was told about ~1500 for a motor(not clear on what comes with the motor, does anyone know what does?) and estimated ~1000-1500 more after all tax/work and junk is done

is it worth getting a new motor? or should i start trying to find a rav4 in my price range?

and one last question, when you include mpg/insurance cost/tax/credit or loan charges... is getting a new car saving me or costing me money for the long run?

it depends on the body i gues... you can get a brand new crate engine (engine in a crate, lol. never been installed in a car before) for like $1000-$2000....then however much to have it installed
getta fukkin new car
I'd search for a cheaper engine. The labor to install the engine is what gets you. But still in my opinion, it always the way to go. I bought an engine for my car and it's been purring like a cat for over a year. All I've done is change the thermostat.
Being a student you need a reliable car. I would get rid of the Chevy cause a new engine in it is more like a project than anything else.

Get a used car that is 5-10 years old. New cars depreciate hard (20-35% lost in first year).
just um get a new(USED) car thats not umm almost 30 years old
rav4's are awesome lil truck /cars.. my mom owns one and she loves it if u get a brand new one toyota usually covers the engine for 5 yrs or 100,000 miles.... if you can afford what its going to cost to get a rav4 i recommend that but if not go with a rebuilt motor once u pay the 1500 or so its urs u own it and wont have to worry about a car payment for the next 7 yrs or so... a rebuilt engine come swith what it needs to hook up to ur car... but i would make sure they recharge ur a/c... lol
had my toyota corolla rebuilt it was about 1,800.00
