Anyone know a good company for BICYCLE insurance?

I live in London, I ride everyday and wear bikes out pretty hard so I will be claiming every six months with it either beeing stolen, I've crashed or the bracket has given up. So any good companies that offer a cheap price and good cover that can be recomended by anyone?

Cycleguard.co.uk is a cycling specific insurance company. I am currently insured with them.
They cover for theft and damage but no one will cover you for wear.
They also offer personal injury and 3rd party cover which might be useful if you have a run in with a pedestrian or something.

You will have to have bike lock approved by the insurer too.

Hope this helps.
i think you should ask you town clark..
Your homeowner's or renter's insurance should cover theft, but crashing or wearing the bike out, I've never heard of insurance for that. Try contacting a local insurance agent.
Personally i've used endsleigh and had no problems with them and only paid about $35 per year for a 拢400 bike. However they are not dedicated cycle insurers and if you visit the mbr website (see below) then there is a dedicated cycle insurer who they recommend and although i have never used them i have had good reports from people who do.

However if you are claiming every 6 months after a year or so your premiums will be ridiculous or you may even find that no-one will cover you anymore. I have a few reccommendations which may help

Firstly if your bike is getting stolen invest in a decent lock or even better 2 decent locks, I reccommend Krptonite locks available in all good bike shops, also spend at least 拢20 per lock to ensure quality, its worth it as i have had my bike 3 years and although i know people have tried it has never been stolen, also all bike insurers demand a quality lock in order to insure ur bike.

Secondly if your bike is wearing out then you need to look into whether the bikes you are using are up to the job, make sure for this kind of riding you are using a good brand of cycle, i would recommend Trek, Specialized or Saracen as a few options, and also make sure the bike costs at least 拢300 preferably over 拢500 for the amount of riding you seem to be doing, As well as this if the bike only costs 拢100 new then insurance is a waste of time as you will have to always pay the first part of any claim usually around 拢50. If you invest in a new bike this will also give you warranty cover and if you buy it from a good shop then you will probably get a first service free which means they will pick up on any damage early on before it breaks the bike.

Also are you maintaining the bike properly if parts are going this may be due to a build up of dirt around them causing friction and cutting away as they revolve, You should be cleaning your bike every day or as a very minimum once a week, i would reccommend a quick wipe every day and then a thourough clean and maintenance check every weekend. For thorough cleaning try muc off or fenwicks bike cleaners (check out evans cycles see below) also use a good degreaser and chain lubricant on all moving parts every week and check all your brakes are tight as this could explain why you are crashing.

Lastly if you are crashing then obviously check the brakes as just mentioned but also are you rushing? Allow yourself an extra 5 or 10 minutes and be more aware not only will this save ur bike from crashes and damage but eventually it may save your life.
