Whats the cheapest bike insurance for a 1st time biker - 21 yrs - 125cc only CBT done? |
Any gd experience to pass on? (Honda CG125) the trick is to get as many quotes as you can. i have been with Bennetts for years but try Carole Nash and as many others as you can. Motorcyce only insurers have in my experience always been cheaper so I would steer clear of the likes of the AA or Norwich Union etc. Most Decent bike magazines ( Bike, Ride or MCN) have loads of ads in the back so get a load of numbers and ring around as many as you can. don't be afraid to bounce them off each other either, they always ask you what the cheapest quote you have had so far is anyway so when you tell them knock a few quid off. The bike you ride affects how cheap your insurance can be so consider this when buying one (check what insurance group your dream bike is). Also If its in a garage overnight and you have an approved lock or alarm can get you discounts too. If you are only planning on doing 6000 miles a year make sure they know that. If you do high miles then they will consider you a higher risk. Don't be suprised if some insurers try to take the p**s with quotes in the thousands. just keep ringing around until you get an idea of what is realistic for you on your chosen bike. Its a chore but honestly, that next call could save you a few hundred quid. Its happened to me! Finally, the optional extras they will offer you soon stack up. I would accept they legal expenses cover, just in case but think about whether you really need the breakdown cover,or if its worth paying to protect a no-claims discount that you do not even have yet! I dont know about cheap, hell i will insure you for 5 pounds but see how well you are covered when you want a payout. Cheap is as cheap does. At 21 you want sound hassle free good coverage for you, your bike and the other party. You want a policy that will reward your good riding and recognise your experience as you get older.Then you will get the rewards you deserve. No such thing as cheap...you get what you pay for.. pay cheap and i guarentee you will pay and pay and pay. Mate if you have cheap insurance and hit a roller aint nobody gonna want to know you. be sure of that. Cheap will cost you ..be bloody well sure it will and you wil pay and pay.
