Motorcycles use less gas but does extra insurance eat up the savings?

Considering a used bike to save money. Clean driving record, late 30s. Thanks!

I pay 467 a year for 3 bikes. 2000 HD Deuce, 2003 Hd Fatboy both with full coverage and a 82 Honda nighthawk, liability only with Dairyland. If you have good credit and own your home they have great discounts. Source(s): Insurance agent and rider
well, in most cases, motorcycle insurance in relatively cheaper than auto insurance. Call Geico. The have the best rates on motorcycle insurance.
I work for Allstate.
I had a 20 year old Honda NightHawk and it cost me 13 dollars a month less to insure than my subaru of the same vintage...
My 38 yo husband pays about $350 a year through Progressive for a 2004 Harley Deuce. The premium will depend on the make/model of your bike. They take monthly payments out of our checking account.
Since you have to have a separate policy for a motorcycle you can shop around. Progressive gave him the best price and he also has a clean driving record.
The savings in gasoline may or may not account for your premiums. It just depends on how much you ride. He rides to work on nice days and we belong to the Red Knights (Fire Fighter's Riding Club) and we go on some of the most beautiful rides you can imagine.
To me, it's worth it. If you can afford it.
I have found that motorbike insurance is cheaper then car insurance, especially, if you start off on a 125cc (and if its cheapness you are looking for then a 125cc is just the job!!)

Go for it, but remember, although you can't beat a bike for cheapness and for cutting out the traffic, they are not ideal when the winter comes and you will be very cold on long journeys and they are not the safest form of transport on wet days.
