Where do insurance companies sell totaled motorcycles?

Do these companies sell these vehicles at auction? Sealed bids? Where can I get information on how to purchased totaled bikes?

I think they get smashed into little cubes and shipped off to China...
I'm an insurance agent. I think they are sold for either scrap parts and/or scrap metal.
Check all junk yards.
Have you ever seen a totaled motorcycle? How could they re-sell it
OK, a lot of bikes get totaled because it is really expensive to replace parts at full retail, but most of the time it is 90% cosmetic damage, Sounds like a stunt bike to me. I worked at a bike shop for 11 years and have had my fair share of salvaged units. even got an '05 gsxr1000 for $1000 bucks. only damage was all plastics and scratches on the frame. as far as the general public goes to finding these diamonds in the rough, good luck, we mechanics are waiting like vultures to snatch these puppies up. Make a friend with your local service department, then pay him off to give you leads on when someone has a totaled unit in the shop. Or you can start working in a service dept. you'll get first pick on these bikes.

They are sent to auctions.
Most states have several places around but in some states you have to be a licensed auto dealer or salvage yard to make any purchases from the auctions.
