Smaller displacement bikes?

Info on smaller displacement bikes?
Everyone, I'm looking to get back into motorcycling after a 3 years hiatus. I need info from owners of small displacement sportbikes (under 600 cc).
How much is your insurance...how many MPG are you getting, do you enjoy your ride...does your bike feel wheezy on the freeway, that type of thing.
I am looking at purchasing a Ninja 250 or similar bike to commute to work on but any info on good, small bikes is appreciated.

I've owned 3 bikes in the past, but none smaller than 550 cc, so I'm curious.

i used to own a 2001 Kawasaki 250 ninja. it was a great starter bike and also helped in taking the motorcycle test. it was easy to manuver. as for the mpg i believe it got 45-50mpg. i loved the bike. on the freeway it was a little to light. the semi trucks would throw you all over. have fun:)
please don't do this to yourself. Buy a 600cc sportbike or larger. Otherwise, you will want to do it AFTER you buy one of those little things. TRUST ME!
All the newer 250cc four cylinder bikes are quick....

need to keep the revs up .. but there plenty quick enough..& handle really well..

not sure where you live... in Australia the reg & insurance is cheap for bikes under 250..

the bikes youve owned before may have been bigger...but if they were a bit old ...the new 250s will scare you first time out...lol
it depends how you ride. my brother had a ninga 250 and got horribe gas milage because it runs at such high rpms. he had it only for about 5 months, because it was burning up all the oil from running so high. the local shop told him it wouldn't get more than 15,000 miles on it if he kept running it that high. its really close to redline even at 90 mph
