A 125cc or a 250cc?

Which is the better deal? A 2001 Kawasaki Eliminator 125 that has 3000 miles on it for $1300 or a 2003 Honda Rebel 250 that has 3000 miles on it for $2100? The Honda Rebel also has saddle bags, a sissy bar, and a windshield none of which I care too much about.
I want a powerful enough bike to get on the highway with my girlfriend. We weigh about 250lbs. together. I will mostly be using the bike for motorpacing (I'm a competitive cyclist) and getting around town.
Would insurance prices be that different based on year and motor size?
I'm just torn between the two. Is the price difference worth it?
Thanks so much.

The Honda 250 is a lot more bike and worth the extra money, especially if you plan to ride two up.. I am pretty sure insurance will be about the same because they are both small starter size bikes.. You can get a quote on line from Geico or Progressive motorcycle insurance companies...
250 especially if your riding 2 and on the highway
250cc for 2 ,pacing
dont buy a bike smaller then 1100 for highway riding
250 cc or 2 people you NEED the xtra power for 2 people other wise, no 2 people.
It`s illegal to ride on the freeway unless you have at least 150 ccs in MOST states (the ones that follow the USDOT rules closely).
Take the 250 better for 2 up
