Which motorcycle to buy a 2006 Honda 599 or a 919? There is only a $1500 price difference at the dealer.?

I have owned Honda Hawk 400cc for the last 15 years. I'm interested in some more power from a standard Honda bike that is confortable to ride. These bikes are so similar that I can not make up my mind. Is the 300 extra cc worth the $1500 more price tag? Is insurance going to be alot more on the 919?

These are completely different bikes. The jump up to the 599 will be a noticeable improvement in power, but not a drastic change in weight and "feel". The 919 will rip your arms out of their sockets. It will literally rocket out of corners and things could get very scary very quickly for you. I have no idea how experienced you are with powerful motorcycles, but my guess is that, coming from a Hawk, you will be MUCH more able to enjoy the 599. I think the move to a 919 is just too much, IMHO. Source(s): 40 years of riding, racing, and wrenching.

If your insurance won't be much higher I'd go for the larger cc bike. You will kick yourself later for not buying the 919. There nice street bikes.
There will probably be minimal difference in insurance prices between the two. I would without a doubt pick up the 919 for the extra $1500, you would probably regret it later.

After a little research I checked the Honda Website and the '07 919 retail is $8,499 and the '06 599 (must have been the last production year) retail price is $7,399. That's only a difference of $1,100 if you are looking at two new bikes. One Other thing to consider is if you might want to do any modifications to the bike it would be easier to find parts for the 919 then the discontinued 599.

Whatever you decided I am sure will be a great purchase with the Honda reliability you have known for at-least the last 15 years. I have had nothing but good times with my Honda VTX1800
