Vespa and Scooter Questions, please help (UK)? |
Hi everyone. Its my daughter Amelia's 21st birthday coming up soon and I know a Vespa would make the ideal gift! I have no idea about scooters or bikes or anything related. As it will be a suprise for her, I can't discuss it. Or even drop her a hint, because she's been wanting one for a long time and will instantly suss out the connection!lol So my questions are (sorry for being cheeky and asking more than one) What are the laws in UK? How does she go about learning? if there are courses/lessons involved, theory tests, practical tests etc. perhaps i could organise and give it all to her for her birthday. She has never riden a scooter before, only a bike. Im quite worried for her safety. What protective gear does she need for a scooter? What type of vespa will be best suited for her (she's about 5'3, quite slim)? dont mind brand new or old. 50 cc or 125cc? & what is resale value like on a brand new? and what is the insurance cost etc in this situation? Bought my son one (brand new Piaggio Zip SP 50) from local dealer. got it on credit 拢80 / month for 2 years, this included CBT (certificate of basic training (course) - which you need by law, unless you are using provisional entitlement from a full UK car license), 1 years third party only insurance (minimum required), helmet and gloves. Your local dealer will point you in the right direction, the deals are there. i wish my parents were as nice as you. hi she would have to take a cbt test (compulsory basic training) before she can ride on the road. she will need to wear a crash helmet as that's law. i have a vespa 50 special on a y-reg (1983). its the small frame model as I'm only 5 foot tall. it is for sale but it needs abit off work.(new tyres and a new petrol tank tap) i want 拢500 for it as it's a rare model. the insurance shouldn't be more that 拢100 a year and the tax is only 拢10 a year. it needs |
