Do i need to see a doc, and if so what kind? (don't read if you cant handle bm info)?

- constipated for over 3 months. this means a bm every 2 days when i am taking fiber or laxative.
- diet kind of bipolar meaning eat real good for 1 or 2 days (organic fruits and veggies and whole grains) and then real bad for 1 or 2 days (pizza, candy, simple starch)
- have gained about 15 lbs over last year, and almost all of it is in hard round belly.
(also quit smoking 1.5 yr ago)

- fiber doesnt work as well as it should (took psyllium)
- laxatives take 2 days (senna pills)
- had a colonic - and nothing came out!!!!

- have decent amount of anxiety going on, which has always contributed to constipation. am currently in therapy

- short walks or bikes rides a few times a week, but not much.

- have no medical insurance and am a student, so no income and do not qualify for state benefits cause i am a student.

Get checked for thyroid probs as well as Cushing's syndrome.
Also irritable bowel syndrome.

You need to see a doctor.
i don't know about the health issue, but if ur a full time student, u should be able to get health insurance
yes go to see your gp! then they can refere you
Could be IBS, or a problem with gluten. Try cutting out white flour and sugar and add fish oil suppliment.
FRIST TRY DRINKING WATER, APPLE JUICE AND PRUNE JUICE. TRUST ME THE PRUNE JUICE WILL KEEP YOU GOING.
talk to a doctor. maybe you need perscription med's for it? i can tell you though that you need help, because your intestines could rupture if you continue to be constipated, and you would need immediate surgery, and could actually die. (not to scare you or anything, but it really is true)
I am so sorry. Chronic constipation is very uncomfortable.
Have you tried Activia yogurt? My mom says it has helped her very much.
Coffee can help get things moving too.
Since you dont have insurance, check into free or low cost health clinics in your area. Is there a University hospital in the area? I have heard of people getting free treatment as long as they are being treated by students. Good Luck!
