Motorcycle helmet? |
I'm 15 1/2(old enough to get a full bike licence in SC) and I'm planing on getting my first bike in a couple of weeks and the bike is a v-strom 650 or 1000 (don't try to change my mind on that) I like to go clubing on saturdays and was wondering what to do with my helmet while dancing. And, yes my town has a club for 13-17 year olds. incase it's raining, way to cold, have to drive alot of people,or have to bring somthing heavey somewear Just lock it to the bike. Don't listen to morons that tell you to "ride without a helmet and save yourself worrying about it. The choice is yours. Considering your age and lack of experience you might want to use a helmet for a while, at least, until you get comfortable riding, put some miles under your belt and turn 18." Always wear a helmet. It will most likely save your life, or save you from spending the rest of your life as a vegetable. Locking it to the bike isn't stupid. I've only had one strap cut in 18 years. You could always bring it inside. It's like any other question, you won't know until you ask them. Good idea, and they probably will. I never lock my helmet to my bike, but where i live there a lot of bikes and it's not unusual to see a helmet freely hanging from a motorcycle. I'm not worried it'll get stolen. If YOU are worried about it though, a good bike lock should do the trick. Just thread it through the face of your full face helmet (you WILL wear a full face helmet, right?) and lock it to your frame or something sturdy like that. Wear your helmet no matter what! I had a brother who died while riding a motorcycle because he was not wearing a helmet. That did not discourage me though. I still ride my Bandit 1200, CB400 and DT125 - with a helmet (and other protective gear) on always. dude you have balls. i'm 27 and weigh 140kg. i just got my licence and even i'm too chicken to get a big bike just yet. i've got a nsr250 and i'm lookin at a bros400. Good question mate, well written. You get my votes for maturity to enter the bike world. Most riders I know, myself included, just lock it to the bike. Ther are things like trick bar-ends and license plate frames that have locks but you can also use a small bicycle cable-lock. The advantage of a long enough cable lock is you can also secure a jacket to the bike using the same cable. I have a full face helmet, and usually use the helmet lock on the side of the motorcycle. Sometimes I've put a bicycle cable lock through the face, and locked it to the handlebars (which had the crosspiece, so this was possible). My advice to you is 2 things: You can either get a helmet lock and lock it to your bike or ride without a helmet and save yourself worrying about it. The choice is yours. Considering your age and lack of experience you might want to use a helmet for a while, at least, until you get comfortable riding, put some miles under your belt and turn 18. |

if it is not too heavy.... go for it.... as long as you are protecting your brain. ...Yes I remember them. For a while it was going to be a choice between wearing one of them or not riding a bicycle in Australia. Fortunately somebody had the sense to ask some cyclists why they did... Protection in case of accident is the purpose of mandatory wearing of helmet and this must also apply to a lady pillion rider. ...Oh nooooooooooooo....u r wearing it first......Want mine...then u get yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anticipation!!!!!!!!!!! ...The best bet is to visit a local bike shop and with additional sizing pads they should be able to accommodate almost any child or adult. I am not aware of anyone doing anything "custom"... In Georgia, a person under the age of 16 cannot be fined or imprisoned for not wearing a helmet. I am not sure about your state. What would *I* do? Well, since I have kids your age, I would tell... smoking herb smoking cigs :)~ ...a man? Jonathan :) ... |
