First time on a Motorcycle, help?

My friend has just invited me to go riding 2up (on the back) of his sports bike tomorrow. What should I wear? My shoes, does that matter? What should I expect? Is it like a one size fit all helmet?

Ensure you wear a helmet, gloves, long-sleeved jacket, long heavy jeans, BOOTS (no shoes with laces because if the bike is chain drive, your laces might get caught up in the chain and the result can be nasty.)
And for helmets it's not a one size fits all make sure the helmet you wear fells tight fitting that way if there is an accident your head has some protection.
Get your friend to tell you what to do He/she will have an idea of how you need to react.
Let your friend get settled first on the bike and ask when they are ready before you hop on (otherwise you could all straight off the bike)
Once on the bike hold on to your friend by the waist gently or the passenger grab bars (these will be on the back or the side of the bike). Keep your feet on the foot pegs at all times.
As you start off brace your self for the acceleration forward you will see your friends hand reach for the clutch so prepare for a jolt each time he does (sort of like in a car except there is no seat to stop you from reacting to the feeling of falling backwards) and it is the same with stopping you will see your friend reach for the brake and clutch so you will have time to brace against moving forward as you stop. In cornering the best advice I can give is to look at the back of the helmet of your friend and keep it in your sites because this will help you to move the way you need to with out you try to counteract (or lean against your friend in the opposite direction). DO NOT MOVE OR WIGGLE WHISLT CORNERING OR RIDING, otherwise it could get rather painful.
When you have stopped and the rider has parked the bike and switched off the engine ask your friend to get off so they are ready for you to dismount.
These are just some of the things needed to ride as a pillion successfully

But most importantly RELAX, HAVE FUN, and enjoy the freedom a pillion can experience on being on a bike it is truly a magnificent time and maybe just what is needed to get you to get your own motorcycle Source(s): 7 years as a pillion myself and now a rider in my own right
wear long sleeves and long pants. wear tennis shoes. if you dont the exhaust will burn you. it will be fun as long as you trust him/her. make sure they know what they are doing before you get on. helmets come in different sizes like clothes
me
long pants shoes always be ready for road rash is what i say safty first no radical driving or im off personally i wouldent get on the road nowadays with these inconsiderit nuts to dangerous o and lean with the driver dont fight it
wrecked a few
ah, not shoes, but boots that to up over the ankles.

also.. on th'back of the bike..

DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR OWN!

you must keep your spine perpendicular to the tires. see, if you lean INTO the turn, you will throw off the driver and crash. if you lean AGAINST the turn, the driver will not be able to turn, enough.....

and again, you will crash.

pretend you are a sack of wet cement.
