My best friends sister just got a very severe concusion. She was riding her bike, and flipped over the handerbars and was knocked unconscious. She was airlifted to a hospital soon after. She was unconscious for about an hour. They were worryed that she had broken her neck or back, and she was in I.C. all night and the next day. They examed her in the morning. She had superfical bleeding in the brain, nothing serious. The cuts and abrasions on her face and arms would not cause any scaring. She got up and hobbled to the bathroom (with help). They took test and found out she couldn't rember the whole weekend, and that the last thing she rembers is eating dinner with her family the night before she left for the trip. My question is, will there be any futher damage besides not playing in any sports and wearing a helmet when she rides in the car? I'm worryed that the accident may have may have done something to her brain or she won't be the same person anymore. Please help!
Generally that is the biggest effect from a severe concussion: short term memory loss is another. Her personality should be the same. Occasionally a person will forget details of past events...events that occured years and years earlier.

personal experience She'll probably have some memory issues fr a little while, but I'm sure nothing really serious! Thank God it was only a concussion!
