Anyone know exactly what the bicycle/helmet law is in California? |
i recently donated my car to "cars 4 causes" and find it very hard carpooling w/my girl when she needs to drop our baby off before work. im most likely gonna get a bike but aren't really sure about the helmet law... i know wearing one would be the sensible thing to do but if i don't will i be given a ticket?? what if i ride on the sidewalk? to be more specific im in Santa Barbara, CA. thank u... In California you can be cited for not wearing a helmet (i'm assuming you're talking about a bicycle, not a motor bike). A helmet may look dorky, but it's worth it. Plus just from biking, you'll be in the best shape of your life! (unless you were a triathlete or something before...) to my knowledge everyone is required to wear a helmet when riding a bike maybe the only exception is when renting one on the beach and riding on the bike path. no way can you ride on the sidewalk ..there are bike paths that's why the transportation dept has us wear helmets Yes. Here are some sites with the laws. Looks like if you are under 18 you need a helmet. http://utopia.utexas.edu/explore/equine/... http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/tocd... http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d11/vc2... These are the kind of laws that really get to me, along with the seat belt laws. Why is it illegal to ride a bike without a helmet or not wear your seatbelt? It's not harming anyone else whatsoever, and it should be completely your choice. no law exists but you should get arrested for child endangerment and your parental rights should be terminated.. what a moron!!!!!!!!! |
