What are the bicycle helmet laws in 1) the city of Dallas, TX and 2) Collin County, TX? |
I'm looking for helmet laws for adults over 18 (I'm 33). In Dallas there's a helmet law for under 18, I beleive. Hit the City of Dallas website and use the search function for "helmet" In Texas you have to have a front white light and a red rear reflector after dark. But for safety's sake, that's not enough. People who bike commute every day agree that more is better when talking about lights and reflectors - go to a bike shop and load up on lights. The LED battery powered kind are good enough "to be seen" I also bought some 3m reflective tape on ebay, I have a ton left will mail you some if you like, just contact me via answers. I cut it into strips and put it on my helmet, and also in the gaps between my spokes on the rims. Very visible in car headlights. If this is legal research, I don't know. But I do know this: wear a helmet, no matter what the law! Stay safe! I live in Collin County and I don't know of a helmet law. I ride with a helmet. I've had a skull fracture and they're no fun. Besides, there's too many people out there not paying attention to the road and the bicycles they are supposed to be sharing it with. Plano has some great trails. Check them out. kool, I need this answer too, but what about riding on the sidewalk? surely ok as long as your clear of pedestrians right? I think if a police officer stopped me for it, id say, sorry im stayin away from the idiots, you go ride in the street and see what happens... lol... I do know you have to stay as close as possible to the curb thankx In Dallas you must wear one no matter how old you are, not so sure about Collin County |
