Really Embarrassing Parents??? |
Ok I'm 16 and my parents treat me like I'm 10. Like they wont let me walk to my friend's house which is less than a mile away and they make me wear a bike helmet when none of my friends are even if I'm just going a couple blocks. They also think I think boys have cooties and they tell people this! They also call me baby names all the time, even when I'm with my friends and I get made fun of all the time because of it! I've told them many times to stop and they just tell me they can do whatever they want cuz theyre my parents. What can I do??? I'm sick of it!!! People make fun of me!!! Embarrass them. u have to understand ur parents just dont want to let go of that baby they had 16 years ago they love u. Just try not to go places with them ur 16 u can drive now ask them to get u a bug there cheap now a days Do you act like a baby??? Can they trust you ??? have you done something to make them treat you like they do?? do you think boys have cooties???? if you do, then you need to grow up..... If not, then this is a form of abuse... its called verbal abuse, and you can report it........ talk to a school counselor, or your grandparents......... Hon. sorry to break the truth, but your parents will always be like that... They won't change the people they are just because you are embarrassed. my gparents are the same way. If your friends make fun of you and your family, are they friends? i can see the humor in this, but they don't have to make fun of you and them.... it seems as if you're taking your friends side instead of your parents... your blood. just ignore thier silly childish comments and move on. Just deal with it. It's totally normal. They are just being parents. You'll appreciate it later, I promise, I hope. Be happy they care about you...no matter how old you get. And, the embarrassing part...ignore it. No one is perfect. No one probably even cares. :) You're parents should be sensitive to your feelings, especially in front of your friends. Just because they are your parents it does not mean they can do what they want. You should always wear a helmet when riding a bike, even for a short distance. Nobody looks cool with their head smashed in. People who do not wear a helmet are in ''it won't happen to me mode'' as if they are so special that accidents will never happen to them. i thought i was alone through all of this, but this is how i dealt with it: just sit my parents down and tell them if stuff does nt change then you embarrass them, if that fails aswell you have to make sure you do you if they have you wear a helmet take it off when they call you baby names you ignore them and walk away from them they will see that it ticks you off and eventually they will stop |
