What is the worse bike(cycling) crash that you have been in ???

What happend ? What injuries ?? Where you wearing your helmet ??

i did a 25 foot gap on my kona stinky after hesitating to do it for about a month. it was the funnest jump ever. my friends josh and din were there. din was building a different jump while i hit the jump, so he didnt see and he didnt believe me that i did it. so i tried again....big mistake....i nosecased the landing and im not sure exactly what happened because i got nocked out but when i woke up, i had a broken hip and 2 fractured fingers(and the concussion). my 1500 dollar bike was done. the fork snapped off and it was all scratched up. the cushioning from the seat tore off. im scared as hell of huge gaps like that now, so i only do 10-15 footers. o by the way i had shingaurds, a pressure suit and a fullface helmet on. left my gloves at home though.
i wasn't paying attention and soon i went off a jump and flew off my bike. my elbow was bruised bad. no wasn't wearing a helmet there so annoying.
my history
When I was about 9 years old, I was flipped over the handle bars and hit the pavement with my face first. I skinned up my entire face and had to walk home about 3 blocks while my face was dripping blood. I started school 2 weeks later with scabs still on my face.
The worst one caused by my own carelessness was not having my wheel perpendicular to the slope in the sidewalk and hence, I went down HARD on the sidewalk! I scraped up my knee pretty good and had several bruises up and down my legs, but everything else was okay, thanks to the gloves. My pride was severly injured in front of the crowd waiting at the bus stop nearby gawking.

The worst accident that wasn't my fault was when a guy in a big car tried to squeeze by me in the same lane (why, I don't know; it was 7am on a Saturday, the road had two lanes, and there were virtually no cars on the road...when he stopped, he said he didn't want to change to the left lane!) and he knocked my handlebars. My bike and I went flying into the sidewalk, but aside from aching muscles, I was okay. I was wearing a helmet, and I know that that helped out because i felt the side of it hit the sidewalk.
Got hit by a car. Flew up in the air about 15 feet and landed on the car's roof. Ended up with a concussion, in the the hospital for a week. They were going to send me home that night, but I had to get up to go pee, and when I did, I passed out. That's when they realized I had the concussion. I was wearing a helmet. If I wasn't. I'd probably be pushing up daisies somewhere.

It could have been a lot worse that it was. After they knew I was going to be OK, the trooper told my Mom that when he came upon the scene, he was sure he would be charging the lady who hit me with negligent homocide, there was so much blood and gore. They stopped counting the number of stitches, I have scars all up and down my back. Another inch or two and it would have gotten my spine. I was very lucky. No broken bones, just the concussion.

The only ticket the lady got was not having a car seat for her kid. So she must have been distracted and drifted over when she hit me.

I still ride every day, and so far I've avoided any other accidents.
when I was a kid, (no helmet back then) I was riding my bmx to the beach for swimming lessons.
I started fooling around, swerving back and forth while riding down the road. well, I cut the wheel a little too much and and was immediately launched over the handlebars onto my face. I had one mess of a bloody face and broke a front tooth.
The ultimate torture, I sat in a dentist's chair for four hours that afternoon.

second worse was crossing the golden gate bridge a few years ago, helmet on, coming home from doing a long ride. a stoned mountain biker decided to turn his bike around right when I was passing him, and hit my front wheel. I went over the bars again, but was a little more reactive than when I was a kid. I tried to break my fall with my hand, and had 3 of my fingers pop out of their joints backward, so my fingernails were hitting the back of my hand.
the mountian biker was kind enough to help me pop back in all the fingers, but my pinky finger had broken a little higher on the finger. I had to ride home the last 5 miles trying to shift and brake, with my fingers popping back out of the joints. not fun.
