Have We Raised A Generation Of Wusses?

Remember childhood with no childproof lids or bike helmets? You drank water right from the garden hose and shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died! You ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but never got overweight because...YOU WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!! No one was able to reach us all day on a cell phone. And we were O.K!! Just get your A** home before the streetlights came on. Remember speeding recklessly on go-carts and crashing into the bushes, climbing trees, falling out of trees, playing with pen knives, sissors, BB guns and just LEARNING how to be careful through trial and error. No Playstations, no 300 channels on cable, no personal computers, instead WE HAD FRIENDS! And we went outside and played with them. If we disobeyed a teacher or broke the law our parents would NEVER side with us!

Compare to young people today and you can see what a bunch of wusses they are. Are WE to blame?

I agree completely! And what is this nonsense about kids "needing" to bring cell phones to school to contact their parents in case of an emergency?! Isn't that what the school office staff is for?

When i was young we had atari & NES systems, but we didn't sit in front of them for hours at a time. We went outside, we played, we got hurt!!

Is it me or do kids seem to get more rebellious when parents put more restrictions? My mom letme get hurt... let melearn from my mistakes.... & i learned the hard way. These kids today are so bratty & the parents restrict every avenue for exploration & for learning from failure! They want to coddle the kids and shield them from failure... That's not the way to do it! Come on! How can you learn from your mistakes if you're not allowed to make any? Yeah, we know the cliche..... parents know better because they've been through it..... That's not enough for a kid to learn from though. You had the opportunity to learn for yourself ... why not give the children the opportunity to do the same?
Why is this in Religion & Spirituality?
I beg to differ that no one died while not wearing bike helmits. Although I do support the view that childhood is about trial and error. Exploring is an integral of childhood development and physical development. No wonder obesity is increasing in America. They are already putting DDR into gym classes to stimulate activity. What an absurd idea!
yada yada and i bet you walked to school in the snow uphill
both ways!
quit whining
your just jealous
you raise your kids how you want and dont tell me how to raise mine
some have
and the moms were home then too Less expensive living
I must disagree on the grounds of a totally volunteer military.
These kids offer their lives for their country.
Well i dont know about that but alot of the youth certainly have to manners.
