If sikhs are exempt from wearing crash helmets why do they wear protection at cricket? |
Sikhs are exempted from wearing crash helmets when riding motor bikes because of their turbans, but you see sikh cricketers wearing helmets when batting- what is the difference Now that is a good question. There is no difference, they are just making a political statement. They should not be above the law of the land where they reside. Its because they dont want to get sick from a cricket ball~~ I thought you were going to question their wearing a box inside their jockstraps for a moment there...but getting back ...it doesn't add up really does it? Great question - no idea of the answer or reason behind these two examples. There is obviously a law allowing them to be exempt when riding a motor bike so they make use of this exemption. It's probably an insurance thing. I expect the difference is in the type of helmet. A crash helmet has to be close fitting as it is supposed to protect against fractured base of skull which was a common cause of death in motor cycles accidents but in cricket this is not a danger so the helmet can be made with more room. Actually I never really understood why Sikhs were exempt because the turban is not part of their religious requirements. It is the long hair and i would have thought that could have been allowed to hang down just as lady motorcyclists do |
