Why do Postmen not wear helmets when they are on their bikes? Isn't this setting a bad example for children? Answer: The reason ANYONE does not wear a helmet is because they have never visited a brain injury rehabilitation facility. Nobody wants to believe that "it" will happen to them. Source(s): My father was struck by a vehicle while ridding his bicycle. He was wearing a bike helmet and it saved his life. At present it is not compulsary. Some posties do, others don't. I regularly cycle and have only started wearing a helmet in the last few years. ya pretty much, if the guy falls he'll be in the hospital and he'll learn his lesson Postmen are not role models. If as a parent you want your child to wear a helmet, you set the example and encourage them. Parents who argue scream and cuss at each other during a disagreement-- this is not a bad example but the postman riding a bike with out his helmut is a bad example for kids. Comon lets get it together.... Good question There is some debate as to whether they are effective, but the pros have to wear them when racing, so why not posties? The Post Office could probably get a cheap deal on them, especially if they were sponsored. Plod on bikes wear them, so perhaps PO employees should as well. Agree it sets a good example for kids. Can't believe it when you see a family cycling and the kids are lidded but the parents aren't!!! |
