Is there a bicycle helmet law in California?


I've heard there is no federal law that requires bicycle helmets if you are 18 and over. Can anyone confirm this??

In general, no. There are some park bicycling trails where there's a signs saying "Helmet required." Others say under 18 has to wear a helmet. But for the most part, no. I live and bike in California and I don't wear a helmet unless I'm riding my motorcycle. Then it's a state law.
As of last summer anyway, in the California State Park system, there was a law in place which required riders under 18 to wear a helmet. Whether this is a federal law, or even state law, is unknown to me.
My sister was cited for not wearing a helmet.
You have to wear one while riding in Cali.
