Can I use a skateboard helmet as a bicycle helmet?


I travel a lot in slow moving london traffic if that makes any difference

You can use that helmet but you will compromise head ventilation and a bit of safety. Bike helmets are engineered for the higher speeds of cycling. They are designed to crack and sacrifice themselves in the event of a bike crash to absorb impact. A skateboard helmet will withstand repeated crashes but won't absorb impacts as well.

I do not see why. Both are safe for your purposes and the mere fact that wearing a helmet shows your concern for safety. Ant reasonable protected device for the head is always the correct way to go.
