Does a ;longboard helmet have to be for longboards. Is a motorcycle helmet too hot? |
Is a bicycle hemet enough protection or should it be ASTM certified? more expensive motorcycle helmets have good ventilation and don't get too hot. then again, you won't be going 40mph... will you? cheap motorcycle helmets have crap or no ventilation--might be too hot, or more likely, just fog up. the thing with motorcycle helmets is that nobody wants to buy them used, as they can have internal damage that you can't see from age (5yr old helmet is no good) or from being dropped or rolling off a table, etc. so maybe you can get a old motorcycle helmet for really cheap or free (put an add on craigslist for a old helmet and explain you own't be on a bike with it) . then you can see for yourself if it's ok. probably would be okay for a longboard--the only thing is it might be a little heavy, i'd be more worried about the weight than the heat. It needs to Snell approved for motorcycle use. Hence why its a Longboard helmet. |
