How do i make my bike lighter? |
i have a mongoose pro mischeif and it sucks but not that bad. i wanna do tricks but i cant do any and my bike is heavy as hell. i already took off my pegs on front and back but still its rediculously heavy. i wanna kno some ways i can make it lighter on my own without takin it to the shop cuz they take like a week and cost a lot of money and i dont wanna waste money on that(they charged me $5 to put a rachet in the peg and take it off(wtf) ) i have pretty much every tool in my garage cuz my dad is a woodworker and builds stuff so i would appreciate any help thanks! Sell the bike and buy a new lighter one, it will cost way too much to make this bike lighter. you obviously need to get a lighter bike and the more expensive it is the lighter and better and stronger it will be a quite good bike usually costs about 250-300 pounds and up so save up sell that one if you can and get a new one hmm...well the only problem might be that the frame too wide and heavy....theres really no way to fix tht exept gettin a new frame....and tht can be expensive....so good luck yeah the frame is too heavy. what i did is go to a junk yard and salvage for parts....might seem weird but it saves alot of money as long as u know what u are doing.... Well you could replace some bits with more lightweight materials but i don't think you could do much in your dad's garage, sorry. EVERY part of you bike could be replace with lighter (and MUCH better) parts. Buy a new bike. Buy a bikeshop quality bike. titaniam parts, i have TI spindle and a ti headset, and some nuts and bolts evry, little thing helps. dude, your frame is heavy. cant really do a lot but get a different frame or bike. sorry. Your bike seems pretty heavy, just get a new one, it'll be cheaper in the long run. Steel frame...steel cranks...cro-mo steerer tube...no way to lighten enough to make much difference. Specs make it sound like a boat anchor. |
