Im leaving for the navy in a couple months. should i bring my motorcycle?

should i bring my motorcycle while im in the navy? and when am i allowed to bring personal items with me i.e. laptop and motorcycle? also is there a shop on base where i can work on my bike, and what kind of storage is there?

you won't be allowed to have it at Boot camp. depending on where and how long A school is you may not even get to have it there either. once you get to your duty station however, you WILL want it.

Most bases will have some sort of Hobby shop for cars and other assorted modes of transport. Not all do, though.

there are short term and long term parking lots. your barracks room could be anything form a private bedroom and a shared lounge area to a shared bedroom with a bathroom down the hall that you share will a dozen other people. if you are on the ship, well, that's more like: you get an 18 inch deep storage section under your bunk and a locker to hang your dress uniforms in.

I would wait until you get to your 1st duty station before you bring any big items. A laptop should be ok, but if you're on a ship it will have to be electrically safety-checked by the electricians onboard & registered with the Master-At-Arms. Remember to keep it locked up! Riding/owning a bike in the Navy is much different than what you may be accustomed to. There are mandatory clothing & helmet requirements and you will need to attend a motorcycle safety course before you're allowed to bring your bike on base. Most bigger bases do have auto shops where you can work on your vehicle & I've seen some bases that have storage lots, but these are usually reserved for boats & campers. What's available to you will depend on your duty station. The link below, from the Naval Safety Center, will give you more info on motorcycle requirements.

can you ride it in the ocean.??? you would have to contact the base you are going to for that information. if you can get base housing besides the barracks or whatever its called you probably could.

For what?
When on shore.
Go and rent one.
What do you think?

Doesn't that depend on where you're stationed?
